Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") before using the Halt mobile application ("Halt," "the app," or "the Service"). By downloading, installing, or using Halt, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Who we are

Halt is operated by Kevin Glass ("we," "us," or "our"). Halt is a wellness and habit-tracking application for people reducing or quitting nicotine. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical care.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Halt. The app includes an age confirmation during onboarding. If you are under 18, you may not use the Service.

By using Halt, you represent that you meet this age requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3. Not medical advice

Halt is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

• Halt records information you provide and displays estimates and general educational content drawn from public health sources.
• Halt does not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, or guarantee that you will quit nicotine.
• Health timelines, nicotine clearance estimates, dependency scores, and savings figures are estimates based on what you tell the app and published population averages — not personal medical measurements.
• Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making decisions about quitting nicotine, especially if you take prescription medication, are pregnant, or have heart, lung, or mental health conditions.

If you are in crisis, contact emergency services or a crisis line. Halt includes free quitline resources in Help & Settings; those resources are not a substitute for emergency care.

4. Your account and data

Halt does not require an account. All data you enter is stored locally on your device. We do not operate a server that stores your health information.

You are responsible for:

• The accuracy of information you enter
• Backing up your data via the in-app export feature if you want a copy
• Maintaining the security of your device

5. Subscriptions and payments

5.1 Subscription products

Halt offers optional paid features through auto-renewing subscriptions and, in limited circumstances, a one-time lifetime purchase. Current offerings (subject to change) include:

Prices may vary by region and are displayed in your local currency at purchase. Taxes may apply.

5.2 Free trial

New subscribers may receive a 3-day free trial on eligible subscription plans. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription automatically converts to a paid subscription and you will be charged at the then-current rate.

The app may schedule a local reminder notification approximately 24 hours before a trial converts. This is a courtesy reminder only; you are responsible for managing your subscription.

5.3 Auto-renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

• Your Apple ID or Google Play account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
• The renewal will be at the same price tier unless we notify you of a price change in advance as required by the store.

5.4 How to cancel

You must cancel through the platform where you purchased:

• Apple (iOS): Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Halt → Cancel Subscription

Or: App Store → Account → Subscriptions

• Google (Android): Google Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Halt → Cancel

Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

5.5 Free features

Certain features remain free without a subscription, including the full Home screen, unlimited HALT craving sessions, slip logging, onboarding, and Help & Resources (quitlines and crisis information). See the app or App Store listing for the current free/paid feature split.

5.6 Restore purchases

If you reinstall Halt or switch devices, use Restore purchases in Settings. Subscription status is managed by Apple or Google; we do not maintain separate accounts.

5.7 Price changes

We may change subscription prices in compliance with App Store and Play Store policies. You will be notified in advance where required and may accept or cancel before the change takes effect.

6. Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not process payments directly and cannot issue refunds ourselves.

• Apple: Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com or through Apple's support channels. Apple's refund policy applies.
• Google: Refund requests follow Google Play's refund policy.

If you believe you were charged in error after canceling, contact the store first, then kevinglass80@gmail.com if you need help identifying your subscription.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Halt if you are under 18
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except as permitted by law
• Use the app for any unlawful purpose
• Misrepresent your age or health information in ways that could harm yourself or others
• Circumvent subscription or entitlement mechanisms to access paid features without paying

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law and store policies.

8. Intellectual property

Halt, including its design, text, graphics, and software, is owned by Kevin Glass and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and the applicable store's rules.

You retain ownership of content you create in the app (journal entries, reasons, etc.). Because that content stays on your device, we do not claim ownership of it and do not receive a copy.

9. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:

• HALT IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY.
• WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
• WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT HALT WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT QUITTING NICOTINE WILL RESULT FROM USE OF THE APP.
• EDUCATIONAL HEALTH CONTENT IS GENERAL INFORMATION, NOT PERSONALIZED MEDICAL ADVICE.

Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of certain warranties; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:

• KEVIN GLASS AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF HALT.
• OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY US DOLLARS ($50 USD).

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including fraud or death/personal injury caused by negligence where such exclusion is prohibited).

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Kevin Glass from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the app or violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

12. Third-party services

Halt integrates with Apple App Store, Google Play, Superwall (paywalls), Sentry (crash reporting), and optionally PostHog (analytics). Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.

13. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may update Halt and these Terms from time to time. We will post updated Terms at the same URL and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms where permitted by law. Material changes to subscription terms will be communicated as required by the app stores.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise.

Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, unless applicable law requires a different forum.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.

16. Entire agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Kevin Glass regarding Halt and supersede prior agreements on the same subject.

18. Apple-specific terms

If you downloaded Halt from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that:

• These Terms are between you and Kevin Glass, not Apple.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
• Apple is not responsible for product liability claims, intellectual property claims, or consumer protection claims relating to Halt.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
• You must comply with applicable App Store terms of service.
